In this edition of Gear Focus we take a look at the new QSC CP series of powered loudspeakers.
QSC is well known for their flagship K.2 powered speakers which are one of the best powered speakers on the market. The CP Series offers the same great QSC quality but they come in at a lower price point.
The CP series comes in the two flavors of loudspeakers. The QSC CP8 has a 1.4 inch compression driver and a 8 inch woofer and the CP12 has a 1.4 compression driver with a 12 inch woofer.
Plenty of Power
Both are powered by 1000 watt Class-D power amplifier that will deliver plenty of power for a live band situation. For instance, we tried out two CP12 over one QSC KS112 sub with a reggae band in a crowded and noisy pub. We were very pleased with the coverage and the power these speakers put out. The vocals were crisp and clear and there was plenty of punch from the other instruments in the mix.
A Flexible Solution
The CP series is a flexible speaker that can be used for many situations. They can be tilted back and used as a floor wedge. There is even a floor monitor setting as well as settings for other uses.
The CP Series can be used as a single box PA solution. It has a 3 channel mixer that allows for mics and line sources. It even has a stereo 3.5mm jack to allow for a music source to plugged directly in.
Lightweight Affordable Package
Coming in at 36 lbs for the CP-12 and 25 lbs for the CP-8 the CP Series is easy on your back when lifting onto a speaker pole thus, making it easy for a single person to complete the task.
If you’re looking for tons of power in a compact speaker with out breaking the bank the QSC CP Series of powered speakers are the best bang for your buck on the market.
